Andermatt recognised as super prime Alpine resort in latest Savills Ski Report
The latest Savills Ski Report 2023/24 has placed Andermatt amongst the top 20 ski resorts worldwide for the exclusive prime property the Swiss Alpine resort has to offer.
Savills , who also ranked Andermatt fourth in Switzerland’s ski destination for high quality property, has been analysing the property market in ski destinations worldwide for 18 years based upon numerous factors that influence a successful destination in its growth and property sales. Firstly, there must be an active housing market; foreign investors must be able to acquire property and appropriate infrastructure must be in place for active leisure activities across both winter and summer.
Exclusive property offer
As a property agent in the high-priced sector, Savills has compared 62 destinations worldwide. Located between destinations such as Zermatt and Gstaad, Andermatt is now in fourth place among the destinations in Switzerland with a prime offer of the highest quality and in the top 10 worldwide, which also includes Vail Resorts (new majority owner of Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG).
The main indicators for the resilience of snow sports are snowfall reliability, the length of the season, temperature, and altitude of the destination. Andermatt is now in the top 20 worldwide and in sixth place compared to Swiss winter destinations according to Savills.
The recently published Knight Frank report came to a similar conclusion, placing Andermatt among the top 15 in a resilience ranking. Knight Frank understand resilience to mean various factors such as snow reliability, the number of north-facing slopes, altitude, snow volume, etc. Andermatt is also one of the top 5 destinations in the Alps in terms of the length of the ski season at 22 weeks.
