Aline Danioth's somewhat unusual summer training

September 14, 2022

Aline Danioth is in the midst of summer training with the Swiss Ski Association: working out indoors in the weight room and outdoors on skis. However, the lack of snow this past winter means there isn’t much snow cover, forcing the Swiss Ski athletes to improvise. Instead of practising on the glaciers in Saas Fee and Zermatt, they decamped to an indoor ski centre in Oslo.

Indoor ski centre instead of glacier

The summer ski areas were hit hard by the hot summer. As a result, the glaciers in Zermatt and Saas Fee had to be temporarily closed. The Swiss Ski alpine teams, which normally hold their summer work-outs there in the snow, therefore had to change their training plans on short notice. This also affected the Andermatt native Aline Danioth. Instead of training on glaciers in Switzerland, she found herself at an indoor ski centre in Oslo. Aline says that training there took some getting used to: “Skiing in the morning, swimming in the ocean in the afternoon.” Nevertheless, training has resumed on glaciers in Switzerland.

OYM as the perfect training location

In addition to training in the snow, Aline spends countless hours in the weight room working on her fitness. And she’s found the perfect training location for this at OYM , which leaves no wishes unfulfilled. Despite suffering numerous injuries, Aline has always battled her way back to top form at OYM in Cham. Since 2020, the training centre has been offering select professional athletes optimal training conditions.

World Cup opener for slalom specialists expected to be in Levi

The World Cup has traditionally started in Sölden on October 22 with the men's and women's giant slalom. However, Aline and her fellow slalom specialists will have to wait until November 19. We wish Aline a successful season!
