1st Genuss Film Alps in Andermatt

February 1, 2024

Together with Andermatt Swiss Alps, the organisers of the Genuss Film Festival Zug are staging the Genuss Film Alpen in Andermatt for the first time. From 18 to 20 April 2024, the Andermatt Concert Hall will be the venue for a culinary film followed by a Michelin-starred chef's dinner. The evenings will be complemented by exciting talks, award ceremonies and the "60 years of GOLDFINGER" soirée gala.

Andermatt has long been one of the top Swiss Alpine destinations and offers its guests a huge range of activities, especially away from the slopes. In collaboration with Andermatt Swiss Alps, the Genuss Film Festival Zug is presenting the Genuss Film Alpen in Andermatt for the first time, which will take place in the concert hall of the Radisson Blu from 18-20 April 2024. The concept is based on the Zug model: After film delicacies, guests will be spoilt with a 4-course-dinner, including wine accompaniment, exciting talks, award ceremonies and a gala on Saturday.

The Genuss Film Alpen in Andermatt will kick off with the Soirée Genuss Swiss Wine Award on Thursday, 18 April 2024, starting with the film "The Wine and the Wind" by Cédric Klapisch, which tells the compassionate story of a family of winegrowers. The subsequent 6-hands-dinner will be prepared by the twins Fabio Toffolon and Dominik Sato, The Japanese Restaurant, The Chedi Andermatt and Noémie Bernard, Sternen, Walchwil. The "Genuss Swiss Wine Award" will be presented to a Swiss wine producer, whose name will not be announced until the evening of 18 April 2024.

The Genuss Swiss Food Award soirée will be held on Friday, 19 April 2024. The culinary documentary film "Master of Cheese" by Myriam Zumbühl will be shown: the story of cheesemaker Willi Schmid, who has the extraordinary gift of being able to recognise what the cow has eaten by the taste of the milk. Culinary highlights will then be provided by Markus Neff, Restaurant Gütsch by Markus Neff, Andermatt and Christopher Knippschild, The Dining Room, Cham with a 4-hands-dinner, followed by the presentation of the "Genuss Swiss Food Award". This award honours a culinary Swiss food producer whose name will be announced on Friday evening.

The last day of the festival on Saturday, 20 April 2024 will be celebrated at the "60 Years of GOLDFINGER" soirée gala with a number of invited guests, an evening in a class of its own: the anniversary film "GOLDFINGER" by author Ian Fleming, the third part of the James Bond film series, which was shot in 1964 in the Ursern Valley and celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2024, will be shown. Of course, there will also be specials and surprises. Two people who hardly need an introduction are responsible for the culinary delights on this evening: Anton Mosimann, rock star of his guild, who helped shape nouvelle cuisine and holder of the Order of the British Empire, and Armin Amrein, TV celebrity chef, including former head chef at Walserhof, Klosters, where he cooked for the British royal family. The gala evening will conclude with an after-party in The Bar & Living Room at The Chedi Andermatt.

Matthias Luchsinger, initiator and Managing Director of Genuss Film Festival Zug and Genuss Film Alpen: "Andermatt Swiss Alps is the ideal partner for us to realise a partnership like this perfectly. The local infrastructure and expertise are an essential factor for a successful festival. We are also particularly pleased to be able to present a concentrated load of top-class gastronomy in Andermatt and to integrate the Ursern Valley as the location of the third James Bond film into the festival with the "60 Years of GOLDFINGER" soirée gala".

Stefan Kern, Chief Communication Officer, Andermatt Swiss Alps: "We are delighted that this unique concept, which combines cinematic and culinary highlights, is coming to Andermatt. With the Andermatt Concert Hall and the excellent chefs, we have the ideal ingredients."
